hi everyone. i was accepted to georgetown IR but with no funding. it is a great program and i would love to go there. but i wanted to ask everyone here what they think about taking out loans to go get a phd. is it worth it? should i try and apply another year?
i am interested in knowing, especially from people who have applied in the past, is it usually true that they send out letters to admits one day and then rejections the next? or is it a more haphazard process?
i haven't been accepted anywhere either so i was starting to get pretty worked up about it, but then i realized that we don't really know what is going on with these adcomms so i am not gonna believe i got rejected until i get a letter with my name in bold saying so . so i would say keep hope alive because it ain't over till it's over. and i think in all likelihood they are still making decisions. i heard that sometimes it comes down to the wire because of issues with funding and such.
Do people the feeling that next week is going to be filled with lots of news from schools? I thought I wasn't going to start hearing back until March so this has been a bit of a surprise.
