Just accepted my offer to Toronto! I think the current first year class is supposed to make our Facebook group, but if anyone who has also accepted at Toronto wants to PM me, we can add each other!

Exactly! I'll be taking the GO train for about 25 minutes and then walking from Union for about 20 minutes. So about 45 minutes or so.

I actually spoke to a current Western SLP student and she confirmed that it is very very difficult (in first year at least) to get a placement in the GTA because U of T holds most of those placement locations for their students. That was a huge deciding factor for me because I would not want to pay for rent in London only to have to pay to commute (or potentially even rent) to another place on top of thatwhen I live in the GTA. I plan on commuting to U of T which will save a lot of money for me so I don't think I could fathom paying so much for Western when there's a much more convenient and cost-effective option. However, a big positive for Western and their placements is that they have the on site clinic which makes your first placement very convenient in that you don't have to even go off-campus. I think that would make it a little easier to balance placements and classes being together.

Same! I'm glad I'm not the only person in this boat. My first year was less than spectacular so I think that was at least part of what weakened my application. I believe I read about Western in threads from past years on this forum. I'm entirely not sure how accurate a statement it is, but I've seen it mentioned a few times.

I also got my rejection letter from McGill today and was feeling pretty down about it as well. It's definitely tough when you feel like you have a such a solid application. The competition is really tough! I wouldn't lose hope yet though because I've heard Western tends to take a more holistic look at applications. So what they may be looking for at McGill might not be what they're looking for at Western. Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think McGill actually looks at cumulative GPA as well as subGPA when making admission decisions whereas a lot of other schools only look at subGPA. So if you had a lower cumulative GPA that may have played a role.

Me too! This was the "confirmation" that I was hoping for. I wonder if we'll receive anything like this from UofT or if they just send out an email if we get in April 1st.

For those who applied to the Ontario schools, does anyone know when/if we should expect to receive some kind of confirmation of receipt for our applications from the actual schools themselves?

Hi everyone, I've been lurking this thread for the last little while and am finally making my first post. I'll be applying to all the Ontario schools as well as McGill and am starting to freak out over applications! Best of luck to everyone! I have a question about the reference process on ORPAS, hopefully one of you lovely people would know more about this. I understand that we provide ORPAS with the contact information of our referees and it generates a Confidential Assessment form for them. I am wondering if we have to print this off and give it to our references or if we can simply email it to them? Also, once they have completed the form, can they upload it online to ORPAS or will they have to mail it in? I ask because I know it will be much easier for my referees to upload them online rather than by snail mail.
