I have a B type visa too. When getting a F1, is B1 expired?(cause mine expires normally in 2017) i plan to use my B1 for traveling to US after I graduate. another question: my college is in IL but before going there I want to visit my uncle in virginia, is it a problem to enter the country from an airport which is not located in where i will be studying? thanks guys

i wiont go that university if i cant get any fund from them. By the way I hate the faculty who even dont answer my e mails about assistantship. its not that time consuming just saying "no".

i have been accepted to PhD in materials science and engineering w/o funding. I talked to the faculty but they claimed they dont have fund to grant me an assistantship currently. I am considering to loan some money for the first 1-2 semesters than i hope to get assistantship position. However, if i cannot get such a position i cannot continue my PhD w/o funding. Do you think is it possible(big probability i mean) ? I NEED suggestions, i'm confused :S

I applied to 10 univ. 2 of them answered both worthless. 1 rejected and the other accepted without funding. I understand you very well. Anyone here has idea when is the deadline for phd results ( in common) ?

i applied to 10 schools for materials science and engineering PhD. ONLY 2 of them resulted one of them rejected me and the other accepted but no funding. i mailed professors but only one of them answered, saying no fund to grant an assistantship. i dont understand these schools, accepting to phd without funding. Do they expect us(international students) to study for PhD WITHOUT FUNDing for about 5 years. Materials science&eng is a research oriented field even in our poor country phd students are funded. We dont have a chance to work with our F 1 visa in US. I thinks this is a kind of rejection too. Do you think I have still chance to be admitted with funding ? or is it too early? it hurts me too much waiting for otherS is it too late to expect for other univ. I am worried that they have rejecte me and they only notify accepted students first. I sent mails to department staff but no answer yet. What am I supposed to do. for 2 weeks I couldn't work on my project and I couldn't do well on a midterm. Depression affected me too much. If I were a citizen of US I could have many chances. I think I will have to study my PhD in my country which will be very bad for me :cry:
