  1. I still haven't heard anything from BC. The graduate school told me that my application is still under review. Anyone else still waiting? This is agonizing.
  2. Hi there, Im very sorry to hear about your situation. I would like to direct you to section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, which lays out which accommodations schools and other federally-funded units need to provide for those of us afflicted with disabilities. I would strongly recommend contacting an official at your university who deals with disability issues to see if your department requiring you to retake classes/comp. exams because of medical issues violates your right to a disability-induced accommodation. Best of luck,
  3. Its so F-ed up how they do it too. Its almost as if they send out like 2-3 rejections daily over the course of 2 months..
  4. Yeah.... Looks like another long weekend of agony...
  5. Who else is waiting to hear anything from Boston College?
  6. What is going on with Boston College? Anyone have any new news? Anyone else an Americanist applicant? thanks and best,
  7. Who is in at Milwaukee and is giving serious thought about going? Also, does anyone know anything about the funding situation at this school? Thanks
  8. Looks like another long weekend for BC applicants. Americanist here..
  9. Your demeanor aside....I agree with you! I don't buy it that you need a PhD from the top 50 to teach, particularly if you want to teach at a small state school or small liberal arts school. I believe this to be especially true if the program you end up at has professors whose research interests are a good fit with your own. Also, BU, BC, Milwaukee, American, the New School, SUNY-Albany, and Brandeis don't make the US News World and Report top 50 list, but they are all great departments with good placement histories. I think as long as you work hard, get to as many conferences as possible, write a solid dissertation, and pump out a couple publications by the time you are on the market, you'll be fine. Best and good luck!
  10. Mine says nothing about a letter. I interpret this to be a good thing, but who knows. Hopefully they'll call the lucky few on Friday. Thanks
  11. Any new news on whats going on with BC? Americanist applicant here-- my online account says nothing about a letter being sent. Rather, it still lists all the application materials and the date they were received. I am not to be considered for the MA, as I am finishing my MA this semester. Any new news anyone has would be appreciated. Thanks and best of luck
