  1. @Lorie @MargaretSG hmmmmm thanks for the information. Wahh I'm sad and now I don't know what school to go to. My friend was able to get funding from UCLA his second year (for engineering though). I am hesitant on accepting my offer because I feel like it is difficult to get funding and what not. Does anyone know how to negotiate finances? The email mentioned that we would get around 2000 in gift aid and considering the cost of tuition at UCLA is 22K, it would be cheaper for me (tuition wise) to go to school at U of Chicago because of the scholarship. Is anyone else deciding between schools and can offer some advice? I'm not too familiar with the cost of living in Chicago, but IDK. This is so difficult!
  2. Tiffany is giving me an unclear answer regarding the fellowship. I emailed her asking whether I was granted or denied the fellowship because I did not get any notification saying I did or did not and mentioned a situation that may have disqualified me from the fellowship. She said I was judged fairly but did not say whether I got the fellowship or not. I asked her if I did not receive notification then does that mean I did not get the fellowship? She hasn't responded and I'm confused. Is this common knowledge that if you don't receive a fellowship then you don't get an email saying you don't get it??
  3. I am also deciding between the two schools because Chicago SSA program offered me a 28k scholarship. I am too afraid to call into UCLA to see whether or not I got the fellowship, so I am just waiting it out until maybe like next week . If I do not get the fellowship at UCLA, I think I would be going to Chicago because 44-28= 16k while UCLA's tuition around 22k (considering I will not be getting any scholarships). Argh!
  4. Thanks for that @Msw_22! Great news y'all!!! I got my acceptance letter last night @ 2:55 AM! I am so happy woot woot!! Good luck to all. If anyone has any knowledge on this, my next concern is how do I go about telling University of Chicago that I will not be attending even though I submitted my letter of intent to do so. I have not paid the deposit yet, but my decision is contingent on the fact if I get a fellowship at UCLA (which I haven't found out yet). I didn't know that you could ask for extensions so I went with some random advice I saw on the forum about accepting the program while waiting to hear back from another and if you change your mind, losing your deposit. In my case, I haven't made a deposit. I want to be as transparent as possible!
  5. :''''''< this is giving me anxiety.. congrats to all who got in! Im starting to freak out and think like maybe I did my GPA calculation wrong or something. For my Jr & Sr year I took over 90 units so for my gpa worksheet I just inputted up until 90 units and omitted one class. At first I included that course, but after re reading the instructions it said LAST 90 units so I followed the instructions listed on the excel sheet. By omitting that last class, my Jr & Sr gpa rose .03 (from 3.75 to 3.78). Do you think that I will be disqualified or something? Even though I was being honest and following instructions, I just feel like they might see that as me omitting information on purpose or something. Did anyone else go through a similar problem? Ughh Im freaking out
  6. AHhhhhhh!! UCLA is the last school I am waiting on. Meanwhile, I had to accept my offer at UChicago because its due tomorrow. The anticipation is killing me. I also applied for the fellowship so I hope I get it!! It's so nerve wracking, but getting into UCLA will only make my decision harder!!!! Wishing everyone nothing but the best! I look forward to hearing about all your acceptances!!!!
