I have been reading along, and my feeling is that final selections have been made by the committees, but that the names of the possible awardees have been sent for background checks before notifications are sent out. I think that it is possible that CLS staff does not know when the notifications will go out because it depends on the background check process, and so I think the need to start the visa process is probably unrelated to the amount of time we will have to wait to hear back.

Chinese semi-finalist here, super antsy. I bet we are going to have to wait until next Thursday!

Hi everyone! I applied for Intermediate Chinese and I am excited for January. I really don't have any expectations, considering the volume of the applicant pool and the diversity of the candidates. My fingers are crossed, though. I've never been abroad (except to Nassau for the day during a family cruise), and the idea of an accelerated language-oriented program excites me! Did anyone else apply for/participate in Intermediate Chinese? When are the locations typically released? Are more people usually accepted to the Chinese program compared to other languages?
