Ahhh well there it is. Rejected all the same.

Hmm, well I'm an S and still nothing. But also international so that doesn't mean anything. The only status i'm seeing online is "application submitted" on the dashboard, and there are no messages in the account. So while this doesn't mean anything beyond they haven't reached this part of their list, for now it appears I'm still alive.

Where on the portal did the letter appear? In your messages or in check application?

Does it seem reasonable to infer that they're going through their rejection list in alphabetical order? Based on the people who have posted their test scores and gpa's, it seems unlikely that they were the "first cut" of applicants. Of course, then we're left with the question as to why they would send rejections prior to acceptances letters if they really did know already... In part I am trying to dampen my own expectations here.

Same. Going in I was totally confident. MA degree in hand. Publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Contract with a college doing curriculum development for a political theory class. Then no call or wait list from Chicago, Arizona, and now Virginia... #freakout

An acceptance just went out for the University of South Carolina. Award money attached and a nomination for a presidential teaching fellowship.

Email I believe. One of my friends from my MA told me today that she got an offer. I'm afraid I don't have more details than that.

Some acceptances for Northwestern went out today too!

My profs have advised me to ignore the suggestions for writing sample length, and to just send in the proofs from a paper I published (about 23 single spaced pages or 12 000 words). I guess it's a bit of a double edged sword: on the one hand, it's nice to have it in the journal's type setting, and there may be implicit bias knowing that it is a published paper; on the other, some departments may throw it out right off the bat for not meeting their requirements. What are your thoughts?

I'm a recent graduate with an MA from a Canadian Master's program. I have a publication in a well respected Canadian Law journal, and was underwhelming on the GRE with a 162, 155, 4.5. First few applications sent out, all that's left to do is cross my fingers and pray!
