Has anyone heard anything about the wait-lists?

I checked the website to see my rejection from UMass and my status was wait listed! I wonder why I didn't recieve any emai about it! but I am really happy! 

waitlisted by my dream schools MIT and UMass! I really hope I can get in this year.

By the way, do you know how many students they usually put in the waiting list?

Yes, it does happen some years. (Not very often but not never.) I can definitely think of people who chose e.g. Harvard, NYU, UCSC, and UCLA over MIT. They had all kinds of considerations and in all cases I know of, these people were happy with their choice (and I am sure they would have been happy at MIT, too. At that point you're choosing between two very good options!).

Thank you! It's my life-time dream!! I really hope there would be someone choosing another school, UCLA or Harvard for example, over MIT!

Have you ever seen anybody who has been accepted off the wait-list from MIT?! Who on the earth may decline an offer from MIT?!

NOT yet! but it's probably a rejection. too sad!! I

have also rejected from UConn and apparently from NYU! I don't think I get in anywhere this year
