  1. This happened to me too back during the interview process. I got an interview invite from one of my schools (Boston College's behavioral neuro program) and declined the invite for a couple different reasons. Two weeks later I got a rejection letter. I guess it's a little different than this happening after interviews took place because I guess you could say that someone could think that they would get into a program while still declining an interview invite (and therefore a rejection letter would still need to be sent) but it felt a little weird to me too and I definitely was wondering if it was a ploy to improve their acceptance rate.
  2. Me! I'm going on February 12th. I'm excited for the interview and the bus tour of Baltimore that they have on the itinerary
  3. There isn't an "other" specifically neuroscience thread -- just some people that are neuro applicants have been posting a lot in the greater biology thread - http://forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/67840-2016-applicant-profiles-and-admissions-results/
  4. Hi, thanks for this! Delaware is my only invite at the moment, but I'm neuro so not as many invites have gone out (out of my 8 schools, only Penn and Delaware have to my knowledge, and someone in this thread said on Wednesday that their PI at Penn is still reading apps so he suspects there may be a second wave). I was thinking about contacting admins at the other programs like you said but was worried about being a nag at this busy time, but I guess it's really not the biggest deal in the world and it would of course be very helpful for all of this. I only heard from Delaware about an hour ago so I definitely have time (5 business days wouldn't be until Christmas) but just wanted to see if any of you had any insight about just how much time would still be okay. I think I just got scared off by them bolding and italicizing that we should respond "right away" which, of course, I also really do not like, but I guess I understand considering their situation of having to schedule everything as well.
  5. Someone in the other thread posted that his/her PI is on the adcom for Penn neuro and was still reading apps as of 2-3 days ago (so after invites went out) and said that he thinks there will be a second wave. I'm not super confident about it since it was just one comment, but Penn is one of my top choices so I'm trying to remain hopeful thanks for the insight on dates!
  6. Did anyone on here get a Penn NGG invite? What are the interview weekends? A singular person also posted that they got a UMich NGP invite -- not sure if that was a troll or not, but if you're real could you share the date for that too? Just got my first interview invite (Delaware Behavioral Neuro) and they want to hear back ASAP so I'm attempting to make sure I don't mess up in the nightmare that I've heard scheduling interview weekends can be.
  7. If a program asks for you to respond "right away" (and they italicized and underlined it) about an interview invite, about how long do you think is okay to wait before responding? I got my first interview invite a little while ago, but it's for one of my "safety" programs (Delaware Behavioral Neuro) and it looks like it's gonna be on a popular day for other interviews (Jan. 29th). According to the results survey, all but 1 of my schools haven't started sending invites out yet, so considering this program is relatively low on my list, I ideally want to wait until at least Christmastime to reply so that I can wait to see if any more programs will get back to me first. But the ""right away"" is scaring me. How long is okay to wait if they don't give you a deadline/preferred date to let them know by? As I said, this isn't my favorite program, but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot. I guess I could just assume that I may get another interview for that date/weekend and ask for a rescheduled date to start with if they really want me to get back ASAP? Not sure how to handle this
  8. Ahhhh I applied to Penn Neuro (and really like the program/my POI) and hadn't heard anything yet, so thank you so much for this!! I wasn't sure if they were going to send out another wave or if this was it. There is hope!! And I assume you're talking about football here, but MSU's basketball team is also scary good this year! I'm a big Maryland basketball fan (go terps!) because that's where I'm from, so I look forward to playing you guys (and Denzel Valentine) once conference play starts :)))
  9. Haha! That's good to know considering some people in the other thread were saying they heard some programs had had record application numbers -- I guess quantity doesn't always come with quality. What school are you at?
  10. Blah. Thanks for the insight @jaesango
  11. Did anyone who reads this thread get a Penn interview invite, and if so could you give some more info? Did the email come from an adcom member/program director or from a POI you specified? I haven't gotten anything yet but if the invites came from a POI, I'll be less worried, because I know from an email exchange we had that my POI (Tracy Bale) isn't the fastest at sending out/responding to emails.
  12. Finally got myself to start work on some final papers (at 2pm today...I've been pretty lazy today) only to check the results section on here and notice that one of my top choices (Penn NGG) started sending interview invites to at least one person on this site. Time to obsessively refresh email...
  13. Agreed with all of the above! Thanks for starting this, @StrongTackleBacarySagna!
