  1. Done with another technical interview! that was some real stuff! awesome questions. it took around 1.5 hrs.. The professor had 6 test papers of 6 different subjects! I did best! the professor was happy! He told me that we will see you soon.

P.S: I had the faculty sponsor interview in Dec, 2015

  2. @Kaust_applicant CGPA 4.0, gold medalist, no gre, Ugrad scholar in my undergrad (semester exchange), 2 internships in my undergrad, 1 year training in power sector and 1 year research work experience in a professional organization. Just one research paper in my desired field that hasn't been published yet but been accepted. But m still facing a lot of competition because US and Canadian students are much preferred here in KAUST.

  3. Done with the personal interview. It lasted about 6 to 7 mins.. Two highly non-professional local guys.. first I waited about 1 hr to hear from them then they were not even be able to get my English and was telling to slow down again and again!!! they told me admission KAUST will contact me again so keep checking your email.

Thanks and goodluck to you too. I will follow your advice. However, I wasn't expecting an interview invitation from them until few hours ago when i just confirmed that the only referee remainibg that had not submitted my recommendation letter has done so. So I think I can now expect their interview. I will be praying. I hope I'm selected. Thanks once again.

You will for sure. Good Luck

That is hella weird, lol. Good luck on that. Did they say, the another personal interview will be in istanbul.? xD

lol yes it is weird. No, no, Its technical that I am having again which is unusual. I have heard people taking personal twice but technical again is rare and bizarre (I think someone with more stronger profile is competing too). It's on skype as well. Fingers crossed!

Okay. Goodluck to you. I was looking for someone in bioscience. Is your program msc or PhD? And I would like to ask this question. I chose msc bioscience and I already highlighted the name of a particular professor who pm I would like to work with. Though it is understood that it is not compulsory for an MSc applicant to name a professor of Interest and that is  precisely why I decided not to send a message to him. But I'm now considering it. My question is that "will sending the  message to him aid my admission?

Well I am no expert about that but I just say don't do anything foolish that can convey any wrong impression of yours. Faculty sponsor is not necessary for Masters so just wait. I am a candidate of MS/PhD (direct PhD after BS). Interviews have been started both personal and technical. Today I got the call for personal interview as well. Although I already have world renowned faculty sponsor but still they are going to conduct another technical interview because I am facing some competition in particular field. Not to mention I had the technical interview before applying to KAUST. So anything can happen and now I have personal interview prior to that of another technical!! Though, I don't myself understand the logical behind another technical interview! So even I have a faculty sponsor but still I am facing troubles. You should have contacted prof if u wanted to, before applying. It wont do any good to you now, in my views (which may not worth a dime to others).

So Goodluck and pray for me as well :)

haha we cannot say so unless i have an official acceptance letter.

Well, Kaust is a research univ with ample of funds whereas in US, even many profs in top univ lack funds, which greatly restricts the freedom of research.
Secondly, the professors/researchers i am going to work with, previously worked at NASA and currently the research is in collaboration with NASA and other federal national labs in the US.
Thirdly, my research is tightly coupled with supercomputers and Kaust has the 7th fastest supercomputer in the world.Bang.!!!

Still! best of luck bro!! :) fill me in when you get the acceptance!

that s not bizzare, they do it every single year...first deadline in Jan.

    then second deadline in Feb.

I read it on the other thread about KAUST.

Ah...I am becoming more and more pessimistic,

maybe I need to find a job *real* job.

Thank you. You seem like a researcher already :D

Sure, for my PhD. Have my masters from the US and they are really attracted and lure the western scholars.
I met the director as well as the sponsor prof. at a conference and they told me straight up everything the same day. so this is more of a formality now.

Great! so you have occupied a seat already! Best of Luck for your future! But if u are done with your masters in US then why KAUST? I mean you can try other valuable scholarships too, in US. Well who am I to ask you? you are probably thinking, but i just want to know how credible KAUST is among the students of US.

I heard that my profile got very high grades and KAUST will contact me soon, from my sponsor prof.

Looks like they already started shortlisting, so you should get an email soon.

Well, my professor does not even reply if I ask him about my application status!! Are u applying for masters or phD? Can you share your profile.. just want to guess about my chances :)

    Hello guys,

I'm applying for MS Mechanical Engineering, still waiting for the interview invitation but somewhat feels hopeless (haha)

My qualification is just a mediocre, BS on Aerospace Engineering from my local university, 2nd class upper, TOEFL 84, no GRE, plus i'm a hijabi woman.

Is there any possibilities where one does not get invited to interview and not receiving any news?

firly! Dont you keep your morale down.. they look for a culturally diverse pupils as far as I know, so you can be among them! You just have to convince them that ur hijab has nothing to do with aims and goals!

got 2 masters already, one from KAUST, another one from a japanese public university

    both 3.8/ 4.0 GPA

KAUST admission staff told me I dont need TOEFL/IELTS anymore,

but i have booked IELTS session, that i couldnt cancel (dang!)

got 1 first author paper, several posters,

    internship in Japan culture collection,

let see how it will turn out to be,

quite nervous reading all the posts in KAUST spring 2016,

it seems luck is the most important thing.

hey hironahah. you seem a very prospective candidate. Best of Luck. As you are already done with your masters in KAUST, can you please share your interview experiences? Are MS/PhD students and PhD students treated alike by KAUST, I am apllying for MS/PhD in Electro Physics. Also I have recommendation by a KAUST professor, so do I need to take a technical interview again? Actually my sponsor told me that you dont have to, but still I am curious!
