Hello Everyone,
I am currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in petroleum engineering in a US university. I have already earned a masters degree and a BE in Mechanical Engineering. I applied for a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at several universities. However I think I messed up!!! I left it out of my application. I did not mention being enrolled in a Ph.D. program in petroleum.engineering. I left it out of my application because I am naive. The reasons are:
- At the time I submitted my application I was enrolled for around 2 months. I had done nothing worth mentioning, apart from reading some papers and attending class.
- I kept it out because I thought it was irrelevant, since I am switching major totally from petroleum engineering to mechanical engineering, which is the same as my undergrad university.
I did not know it is a major issue, until I read people asking about this in forums.
The dumb thing is, I wrote my address on my Resume. The address which I live now in is the address of my current university. This proves that I did not mention it, because I did not think it is important, and I was not trying to hide anything.
Do you think I have no chance of getting admitted? What do you think I should do? What is my best course of action now?
Help is greatly appreciated!!
Thank you
