I had no idea... Why do they request interview locations in the application form then?

I think it depends how it's done in the country your applying in. In the UK they've said when the interviews will be (given a 2 week timeframe) and that's the end of January so it wouldn't make sense to notify you so close to when the interviews might actually be, especially if you have to make plans to travel a long way or similar.
