I am in the same boat and I am so bummed about it. I am planning on asking to defer as well. Let me know how it goes with you.

Anyone know when we'll get our financial awards? I emailed but haven't heard back yet.

I got a decent scholarship but moving to Pittsburgh would be a BIG move for me & everything I've known, so I'm not sure about it yet.

I may defer admissions to save up more money/take a gap year. I'm not sure yet.

I read that for some schools, deferment is only accepted if we provide documents that can verify 'legitimate' reasons such as a major change in financial/family status and etc. Would they accept needing to earn more money as a valid reason? I'm scared to ask.. Yikes

I would definitely try asking for more money. If people who received scholarships decide to go elsewhere, maybe they'd find more money for you if they knew that Pitt was your top choice.

Wow - that's terrible! Is the difference enough that Pitt doesn't make sense now compared to your other options?

Yes, I may have to defer my enrollment but I wonder if that'd be possible to request just for financial reasons.

  3. I got 8k per semester, which is a pretty generous amount to be receiving. I think it'd be the most realistic option for me, although it'd be kind of difficult to let go of NYU and Columbia.

Does anyone know if we'll be able to change our concentration once we get there?

  4. Thank you @tudor3x8, @morlvera and @sugarandspice for your answers about UPitt and NYU concerns.

I was able to extend my deadline for NYU by 4 weeks and earned some more time to wait for other school decisions and plan out financial stuff.

I hope UPitt will mail out the scholarships soon.. I am eager to find out about scholarship because I am in dire need for aid.

@morningjunky, I am visiting Hunter College today because my app has been 'incomplete' for a while.. I'll ask about group interview schedules while I'm at it.

Yeah I received $8,000 per semester! I'm just wondering if they also have need based scholarships. I know they have a integrated mental health stipend for $18,000 but I'm interested in Child Welfare :( !

    Hi, @tlove11,

I've been accepted to UPitt MSW program this  year, and I'm in dire need of large amount of scholarship. I noticed that you received $8000 per semester, and I wonder if it depends a lot on gpa. Do you mind sharing the gpa you applied with? I just want to reference it and see how much I can expect to receive.

    Thanks!

  6. Hi guys! Glad to join you guys here.

For all the students accepted to UPitt, did your decision notice on the application portal include any info about scholarship? My admission offer didnt even mention anything about scholarship, so I'm wondering if that means I won't be considered for scholarship..

Also, I have less than a week to make a decision for NYU 2 year program. I wish I could extend the deadline for the decision answer- has anyone heard of NYU letting ppl do this?
