Can any Columbia admits comment on the form their acceptance took? (i.e., email from POI, DGS, admissions office, etc.?; also has your application status changed from submitted to something else?)

Can anyone claim a Columbia admit? A bunch went up overnight but without any description or stats. It's just now 7am in NY and I'm skeptical about either the department or admissions office sending emails in the middle of the night...

claiming a cuny admit

Does everyone else's Columbia application status just say "submitted" still?

I'm presenting at ASA.

Have you two called the departments or are you just going off prior years' results?

If you don't get in anywhere, apply for jobs in government or nonprofit research (not so difficult if you live in NYC/LA/SF/Washington/Chicago/Boston, difficult all other places) and work for two years in research. Then apply to PhD programs with professional research experience, and ideally a handful of publications, and a more refined personal statement. Go the professional research route rather than masters. It will make your research better and will help you see how research translates into actual programs or policy, which is something that most applicants straight out of undergrad can't even fathom.

I bet we see a bunch of email accepts/rejects tomorrow or Friday. It might have been somebody already in contact with a POI who received an informal call after the committee finalized their decisions?

Fuck I'd even settle for my mom at this point. Holding my breath for Columbia and NYU next week.
