If the lab website of the professor says that once you are accepted to XXX program, contact professor XXX via email, Do you think it is still wise to contact him before admission? I've seen many professors' lab websites like that.

So when I call them, could I go straight to the topic and say "Hi, I am a PhD applicant for 16 Fall. It is in February but I haven't got emails from your department. Would you mind helping me check if I am on the waiting list? Thank you so much!" Or do you have any suggestion about contacting the department? Thank you!!!!!

Hi, are you also applying to chemical engineering? Would you mind telling me when you submitted the application to Berkeley? Cuz the deadline is Dec. 14th and I saw there are offers sent out right on that day or just a few days after the deadline. I am wondering if it would help a lot if submitting earlier. I have to say I submitted on the deadline.......and I haven't heard anything from any other school I applied to. Also, there is notice on the status page of Northwestern University saying PhD applicants should find out between Feb and Mar BUT I've already seen ppl reporting offer from NU in Jan. I'm so nervous now. Should I contact the graduate office?

Thank you for the information! I didn't know that website before..... I still haven't heard from Berkeley.....I feel I'm gonna receive the rejection soon.....

Has anyone heard from Berkeley yet? If not, I feel they will send out emails tmr...........
