I thought the conclusion was that those were all fake? I'm operating under the assumption that I've been rejected and they're just taking their time telling me. Ditto Georgetown, at this point. (Has anyone in American heard from Georgetown yet? Is it possible that they're doing admits by subfield and haven't gotten around to us lowly Americanists yet?)
This is a little off-topic, but since we've been talking about visits--am I obligated to visit if a department offers to pay for it?
I'm fairly certain that I'm going to commit to the department in question; it's a good fit and my only funded acceptance so far. I've been emailing with a few of their professors and gotten all of my questions answered. I'm in an extremely busy period with my current non-academic job and I found visiting departments before I did my MA to be a waste of time. Anyone have strong opinions on whether or not the visit is worth it in my situation? Am I missing out on some important networking before I start classes in the fall?
I got into NYU when I was applying to MA programs for fall 2006, and the letter came right around this time.
Anyone claiming the Notre Dame rejection? If they're finally sending them out, I'm expecting my own any time now. Just logged in online and my status hasn't been updated.
Got an official rejection from Vanderbilt (form email). Not all that surprising, but boooo...
Just Georgetown and Notre Dame left for me and then the waiting is over!
I don't feel too bad about it. I've known this one was coming for weeks now.
At this point I'm pretty much just waiting for the rest of my rejections to trickle in so I can commit. I might be holding out a tiny ounce of hope for Vanderbilt or WashU, but that's it.
Thanks, gravityflyer! I had pretty much given up on this cycle. Still holding out a little hope for Georgetown and UMN, but Florida's looking like my best option.
And thanks to AP for the update on UMN!
Seconding APGradApplicant's curiosity about the Minnesota acceptance. Also, anyone claiming the Vanderbilt acceptance? Just checked and my status hasn't been updated online.
