I was accepted to the Rutgers PhD program, but have received no word on funding (which, 6 weeks later, I'm assuming means I'm not getting any.) Do I start this program or bide my time taking some classes (or working on a master's) and re-apply to Penn (a fully-funded program) for next year? Of course, there's no guarantee I'd get into Penn next year, either...any thoughts? Anyone else trying to figure out how to fund a PhD?

Wasn't there a box on the application to check 'compassion'? No?
