  1. Got a phone call from Dr. Swindal in February, a letter a few weeks later.
  2. I'm having trouble figuring out how to work the Twitter thing, but will try to before tomorrow night. if not, maybe someone who does know how to use it can do that. I hope a lot of people show even though its late in the season and a lot of people are tired of thinking about this stuff. If there is enough interest, and if I could get WGI or TGC to link to it, though, I might leave the chatroom on Wondershock up permanently and using it to host weekly chats during the admissions season last year.
  3. Apis is having an IRC-based party to celebrate the 2010 graduate school admissions season. You can come to the party by pointing your favorite IRC program (I recommend Chatzilla) at irc.rizon.net and going to the room called #admit on March 21 at 8:00 pm eastern. If you don't have IRC, you can still attend by going to http://admit.wondershock.net at the indicated time.
  4. I got an offer from Duquesne, and am probably going to take it. The school fits very well with my interests, and I'm excited to work with the faculty. Its really a dream come true, an I've actually been a bit depersonalized since i found out because my brain just won't believe it. Nevertheles, I was wondering if anyone else here has been accepted to Duquesne and plans to attend. It would be really cool to make friends with my new colleagues before I even arrive on campus. Anyone? Anyone?

Meh. I agree that this isn't the place for a theological debate; however, I want to add that I find the absence of God incredibly liberating. Indeed, it inspires great hope in me. This process would be so much easier if everyone just gave up and became nihilists.

Apis here. That post was probably a joke. If it wasn't, the person likely isn't really suicidal over grad school apps. That kind of thing doesn't happen unless there's existing, underlying problems: depression, bipolar, borderline... stuff like that. Chances are, even if they got into a great program, they'd still be having problems. I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but if this person were serious, I'm glad they didn't get into graduate school. If they're that depressed, grad school would likely only make things worse for them. To me, this underscores something I've believed for a long time. Guys, take care of yourselves BEFORE you apply.
