  1. Hello folks, To give you a brief description of my situation, I requested a LOR early November and told my professor that the earliest deadlines are on December 15th. However, I also came across some programs that I am now interested in but they have a December 1st deadline. My questions are: 1) Would the professor think it would be rude or odd or perceive this as being a quality of procrastination? 2) Do programs have a grace period where LORs do not have to necessarily be submitted by the deadline? 3) Do some professors think that not submitting the LOR by a deadline hurts their reputation? I'd appreciate your feedback!
  2. Thanks for the reply. I do believe the experiences gained from the Masters program will help me be a more competitive applicant. Especially with an RA position, it'll help me gain more exposure to research environment. I am confident that the skills/knowledge gained will add on to my undergrad degree. Isn't that true?
  3. I was wondering if I may seek your advice on pursuing a Masters in Marketing (1 year program) with the ultimate goal of pursuing a Ph.D. in Marketing (Consumer Behavior track). Long story short, I have been offered a research assistantship at a top 50 business school (full tuition waiver + small stipend) and another admissions offer from ta top 10 business school with a 1/2 off of tuition scholarship. My question is, based on cost of attendance and reputation alone, would it be worth the $25,000 premium to attend the higher ranked school? Also, whether it be in academe or industry, would the value of my undergrad degree (top 5 business school) diminish/be overlooked once I pursue a Master's degree?
  4. To the OP: I am in a similar situation but here is my advice to you: If the MA program is only for 1 year, and this is the last degree/school before your profession, I would say that the more reputable school would be worth it as you will readily be able to pay it back once you have a strong career. Plus, although opportunities abound in both places, I'd say there would be more choices in the better ranked school.

Long story short, I have been offered a research assistantship at a top 50 in business school (full tuition waiver + small stipend) and another admissions offer from a Top 15 business school (50% off of tuition merit based scholarship. I also went to a top 5 school during my undergrad, fyi. My question is, based on cost of attendance and reputation alone, would it be worth the $30,000 premium to attend the more reputable school? Would attending either school for Masters Program really impact the probability of getting into PhD programs that I plan to apply this fall/winter? Do PhD programs generally weigh my undergrad school/performance more heavily than a Masters? Thank you!
  6. Hello everyone, As I am been invited for a final round interview on-campus, I was wondering if it would be wise to bring in an additional one sheet document highlighting my research interests. Also, should I bring copies of my resume, cv, and sop to the 1v1 faculty meetings? Thanks in advance.
