  1. Both classes and relative work experience are important.  My conversations with several established scholars/professors in art history would imply that unstructured/non-degree online courses are not helpful to strengthen your application. They would, obviously, add to your personal knowledge and may help you discover opportunities such as publishing / participating in a journal.  In general, if you are looking for graduate studies in art history, start taking art history classes right now.  This field is difficult for break-throughs, and does not easily guarantee a bright financial future. You want to be really serious about your interest before investing time and energy into pursuing graduate studies. You should, at least for your own sake, take several research-heavy art history classes to see if you really like this discipline.

Hey :) any other Cornell applicants? Had an interview last week but haven't heard anything since.. Thanks and good luck everybody Xx

    Hi,

I have not been interviewed nor heard anything from Cornell. I do see a few refusals on the result page, though. Who did you have the interview with and what is your field?

  3. So I have been reading many comments on refusals / acceptances by Cornell for the History PhD. Does anyone know anything about ART HISTORY at Cornell ? I've seen a few refused in the results page last week, but personally did not hear a word from the department up to this moment. Any Cornell applicant in the same situation?

Hello Guys! Has anyone received any e-mail from MoMA yet? According to their website, the 22nd of April is the big / decision notification day. Just wondering that maybe any further update on any of the departments could help the rest of us here who are still waiting... I've spent the last few days on F5. Am I the only one? :)

The initial email confirming the reception of application says the notification will be sent out "the week of April 25".  According to applicants from past years, many people got rejections 10-15 days after the official notification date.... Let's just hope, or simply give up hope.

  5. I don't know if it's because of the postal mail application that nobody seems to have heard anything back.

Just a piece of information: I emailed the internship coordinator and got confirmed that interview requests are being sent out this week. So if we don't hear anything back at the end of this week, chances are that we are not a finalist!  Hope this helps other people.

  6. I also applied for the summer internship.  Does anybody the weight of such a short internship in the application to a Cultural Studies/Art History PhD program?  I did my undergrad in Studio Arts with an Art History minor, now slowly building my credentials to pursue a more theoretical program in the next couple years.  Would a MoMA summer internship be of much help?
