  1. Hi everyone! Thanks so much for your responses. I appreciate any tips re: the CF process, and you gave me some great questions to ask! I am shocked that MA does not grant provisional licensure to CFs. I have actually decided within the last few weeks to find a CF in the area where I went to school anyway, but that's really good to know. That's great you completed your CF at a hospital. Since you were part time, were you working part time at another facility with peds in order to fulfill your hours to get your CCCs? It seems most of the CF positions are pediatric. I completed my externship at a hospital, not a SNF. But it seems that a SNF is a realistic goal at this point. I'm just wondering if I should look into working per diem at a hospital instead. Anyway, I'm very excited to start working! I'm staying positive ? Grad school was a lot of hard work but I know the hard work doesn't end there!
  2. Hello all! I am about to begin applying for my CF, and I've heard that the majority of CF positions are offered in either a SNF or school. I've heard mixed reviews about working in a SNF (mostly negative), but it seems that doing your CF in a SNF is the only way to ultimately work in a hospital/rehab center after you become licensed. Is this true? I have always been interested in working with adults, but I do enjoy working with kids as well. I'm not sure what direction I should take. Also, I plan to move out of state for my CF (hopefully Massachusetts). How difficult would this be? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Hello everyone! I am about to graduate from my speech master's program, which means I'll be applying for a CF soon. Does anyone have insight on whether it is realistic for an SLP student from the US to get a job and become licensed in Canada? What if I wanted to work in Canada for a few years, and then move back to the US? How difficult would this be?
  4. Personally, I don't think it will make a difference. Montclair has a great program and they're fully accredited so you will definitely have no problem finding a job! I got into a bunch of other schools, but I'm attending Montclair for financial reasons. The in-state tuition is hard to beat!
  5. From what I know, there isn't a facebook group yet! I'll be attending the April 1st tour, and then handing in my deposit afterwards. Looking forward to meeting you guys!!
  6. Nope! But, I know the letter says that we need to get the deposit in by April 4th (earlier than usual?). It makes me so nervous!
  7. Yeah, I don't blame you! I wish I could do that. I'd definitely get your deposit in as soon as you can! I know that they have a very limited number of GA positions, and I haven't heard anything about scholarships. I think we should be hearing about interviews for GA positions in the next few weeks. Maybe interviews will occur throughout the summer? I'm just so relieved about the in-state tuition!
  8. She told me that I would actually have to bring my deposit to The Graduate School on the main campus, so I'm just going to drive over there after the tour! It does make me a bit anxious that it's so last minute though.. I don't even have the letter with me because it was mailed to my home address, so I would have to mail it or hand it to them on April 1st when I go home.
  9. I'm 99% sure I'll be attending Montclair! I plan on handing in my deposit after I take the tour on April 1st. I haven't seen a facebook page either, but I'll totally join if someone makes one!
  10. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it! I heard that the facilities are nice- I'll be taking a tour in a few weeks. The only reason I was hesitant is because their program lasts 2 1/2 years. If there are any current grad students at Montclair, I'd love to get your input!
  11. I heard back on 3/15 via email!
  12. I just got accepted to both Montclair State University and William Paterson University, my top two choices! I am 99% sure that I will be attending Montclair because it has a more highly ranked program. I would love to hear if anyone has further insight about the program? I am so excited! :-)
