Which schools have the best photography departments in say California? Lots of the programs I am finding seem to be interdisciplinary which has its benefits but I at least want a strong photography presence. I've been looking into mostly funded schools but keeping an open mind for now. Preliminary choices are Stanford, UCI, CSULB, UCR, UNM, CU Boulder, CCA, and CalArts. Not sure I fit in with UCLA. The Arizona schools are tempting but again, not somewhere I want to live and I'd prefer UNM over them. My undergrad was quite hands-off and theory based and I'd also like to find something towards the opposite end of the spectrum if possible. My work is landscape based and though I like what I see coming out of Yale/RISD I am desperate to get back out west after being on the east coast the last 4 years!
