The reputation of the department is important, the fact that the school belongs to a certain athletic conference does not.
thanx!

Hi,
I got admit from Michigan Ann Arbor and UPenn and UC-Irvine in MS of EE. I have interest in telecommunications and signal processing. In UPenn there is a dedicated track for commnucations (TCOM program) but in Michigan there is a flexibility in selection of courses and a strong faculty resources. It seems that Irvine is in a IT industry dense place. Colorado admit me as phd student, but I may change it into M.S. program.
Also, Penn is an Ivy League Univ. Does Ivy league branding matters?
On the other hand, Michigan Ann Arbor is much higher in ranking than Penn in EE.
So could you guys help me so that i can make a decision... btw, I want to seek a job in telecommunication industry.
pls elaborate on (placement, research, profs interaction, campus jobs, internships)
many thanx!!

hi,
I am not in the US and do not have enough information about US' great IT places...
Then which cities or regions have intense R&D centers of electrical engineering companies, esp. telecommunication industries? Silicon Valley? TX?
your help and information will be deeply appreciated.

If I want to find a summer intern and seek a job after graduation in telecommunication or signal processing industry, which one is better for me?

well, in Penn, Electrical engineering includes microwave, photonics, solid state, VLSI, etc. Systems Engineering includes signal processing, control, etc...
and they belong to the electrical and systems engineering dept.
ding!

How so? Systems engineering is a completely different animal than Electrical Engineering.
well, in Penn, Electrical engineering includes microwave, photonics, solid state, VLSI, etc. Systems Engineering includes signal processing, control, etc...
and they belong to the electrical and systems engineering dept.

I also have always been wondering how useful is a master degree in systems engineering?
actually, it is the same as electrical engineering

The correct way to phase your question is "Do UPenn's Systems Engineering MSE graduates find jobs easily?"
I am a domestic student.
