  1. *This comment applies to Masters, not PhD. I do not receive financial aid from either my university or my family. I am taking out federal student loans to pay for my tuition and school expenses. I am HIGHLY against using federal student loan money for expenses that are NOT related to school (buying a bottle of wine, going out to dinner, or even paying my rent). Therefore, yes, I do work about 15 hours a week bartending. It is quick and easy money (averages about 30 dollars and hour) There was a poster who said that the people in their program who hold side jobs are the not-so-great-students and that is usually not the case (at least for me). I do just as well as the students who do not work. It makes me manage my time a lot better.
  2. I feel my grad program is trying to make content and classes too objective when the subject matter is very subjective. I feel I am thrown a bunch of random facts and information and I'm not getting taught the big picture of it all. What's worse is midterms are coming up and I have all this information for each of my classes and no idea how to organize it. Instead, I feel I have to memorize each and every single fact that I has been given to me since September. The professors aren't willing to help either. They won't meet with you outside of class, they won't answer your emails, they won't give study guides because they "have lives". Well, let me tell you something...you have a life because MY TUITION pays for it! At my old university, I had such an easier time with my classes because professors were more than willing to help you grasp the information efficiently so you could pass the exams, as well as remember the information for years to come. I am so dissapointed in my grad program
  3. How do we see? That TC ID number they sent me about a month back did not work.

  5. I have not heard anything yet from TC or NYU. I got a letter from Southern CT State Univ. today. Although a backup school, I am sooooo happy I at least got into one. But NYU and TC are my top schools. I am DYING to know! I didn't get that scholarship email from NYU that a few posters on here posted in the results section. I hope that isn't a bad sign...
  6. In regards to checking your application status online, is that through the app.applyyourself.com website? If not, where would we find this?
  7. I'm doing the NYU interview this Friday too! I really don't know what to expect...anyone have any ideas. I am brushing up on interview questions, but do not have a clue if I am even doing the right thing. Also waiting on the TC decisions...does this mean the decisions are all going out on the 15th, or is it possible that it will be before? Ah, the waiting game!
