Princeton has a small and high quality department of EE, which only focuses on certain research areas. It primarily excels in the areas of information theory, and electrical materials and devices. It has few faculty interested in IC design. On the other hand UCLA does not have the all round ivy prestige, but has a strong EE department. It excels in IC design, and has Razavi (wow!) as a prof and Samueli (founder of Broadcom) as an alumni.
