  1. Wow, impressive CV - great job! I'm with what the previous poster said: You won't get into Harvard without an application. However, I do also have to say that it's good that you seem rather modest and down-to-earth. My CV looks similar to yours (3.76 GPA, 4 years lab experience but no conferences/lectures - as for the papers, I'm not sure how much they count unless they're through peer-review), I'm also in Developmental, and I applied to 10 schools this year... and didn't get into one. So while I strongly believe that you have a shot at Harvard and "all the great names" (though make sure that they even do what you want... I canceled my Yale app because there was nobody doing my line of research, prejudice and normative behavior in infants), I find it very important to have an actual safety school. Mine was ranked 30 and I truly believed that I would be in without any trouble - and they were the first to reject me, back in January. Good luck! Jana
  2. Nothing official from McGill yet. An unofficial rejection by my POI, though. On Minerva it still says "Ready for Review" although I know for a fact that it's already "Under Review". And from previous experience with McGill I can say that there's no point in checking the website. They will send you an e-mail once the status changes. Good luck guys! Jana
  3. Hey guys So, I found this neat research institute in the Netherlands that pretty much covers my research interest AND offers PhD positions without needing a Masters. They want me to send, among other things, a "research statement" and I'm totally at a loss what that entails... and how long it's supposed to be. I've written SoPs and Research Proposals before, so my thinking was that it's somewhere in between: What are my interests, what is my background in the field and what do I wanna focus on, without the specifics of an actual proposal (i.e. without hypotheses, without specifics on methodology). Is that correct? And should I do some name dropping (or even citations?), for instance people who influenced me? Thanks for all input! Jana
