Consider applying to UNC-Chapel Hill's PhD Program in English (with a focus on rhetoric, composition, and literacy studies)! We have a small but mighty group of rhetoric, composition, and literacy grad students and four tenure-line faculty who are extremely supportive. We meet regularly as a writing group and have many fun adventures traveling to conferences, applying for grants, and co-authoring publications. For an ENGL101 student, I'd particularly recommend Young Scholars in Writing: Undergraduate Research in Writing and Rhetoric, which specifically publishes exceptional work from FYC courses.
