yeah, i'm kind of sad too. i think the NSF is retarded to let people 'hack' (ps, that's not really a hack, if the info is sitting on the server, without any kind of protection) what they have probably been sitting on for a week. i hope someone on their side is following this and sees that the awards got leaked. heck, we should email them.
double check the awards/HM list on fast lane. when i open it now, it's showing the 2008 by default, but i don't know if that's cuz i 'hacked' it.
1) from FF 'web developer' toolbar: Miscellaneous > Edit HTML
2) around line 67, add: 2008
3) click 'Apply' button
4) feel like crap.
crap. i just found the awardees list, and i'm not on it. i tried the cheesy "hack"--basically live editing the html using the web developer toolbar, adding the 2008 option for the drop-down control, and reloading the html. bah humbug. congrats if your name is on the list.
holy crap. my heart was beating so fast as i was scrolling down to the T's.
my name's not on there...so who knows. of the 5 people in my program who applied, i found 1 person's name. this has to be a legit Honorable Mention list.
now...did i do better, or worse than this?
EDIT: 2 people from my department are on the list.
Thanks for calling. That's so strange that only some can access their awards. How'd they drop that ball.
So, I guess we can keep in a holding pattern until Thursday at the earliest.
now i wish i had written my proposal on:
"How to announce acceptances and rejections of a fellowship."
certainly they would've funded that, right? (of course not...)
ug. so do i even bother checking my email tomorrow during the day at all? what sucks is i'm supposed to be writing a qualifying paper, but i can't finish a paragraph without: 1) checking my email 2) checking FastLane 3) checking this thread 4) searching technorati/google blogs for "nsf grfp 2008."
in that order. i'm pathetic. at least when this is over i might be able to get some writing done. :|
