How I find people applying for WSBS? What say your status in your application WSBS? I want to know if I was discarded applicant... snif  I did not receive mail :(

My application status is still submitted, but the last modification was 22 days ago. I'm sorry to break it, but I believe that all invitations have been sent.. To make sure, nothing better than emailing CSHL and asking. Good luck!

    Are you serious.....

Berkeley mcb, UCSF tetrad, and Stanford biosciences all want me and say I was a great candidate, but Caltech rejects me like that?

    I am crushed.

    When are the interview dates?

I don't know if you're international, but if that's the case I know Caltech Biology is especially harsh with international applicants. Your other programs are quite amazing though, so I'm sure you'll be happier and appreciate your overall results once the acute pain of rejection starts to fade (I'm starting to heal too, so I feel you).

Hi, this is the Biology thread, there's probably a Sociology topic elsewhere in the website. I'm sure they can be more helpful :)

  4. Can anybody post the email rejection from Gerstner Sloan Kettering? I have applied through the Fulbright program, and they've told me I would not be invited to interview but that they aren't able to give any further official information regarding acceptance/rejection.

Do the emails state anything about rejection or do they just say that one has not been shortlisted to interview?

Has anyone received an interview at their top choice program already and are feeling less motivated about some of your other schools/are thinking about declining other interview offers?

Man, that sucks, feeling so bad for you. If you want to trade lives with me :P

Jk, you have nothing to lose in being invited to other programs, even if you end up declining their offers. Congrats on your interviews!

  6. Does anybody know if Gerstner Sloan Kettering is done sending invitations? In the past they seem to send both interview invites and rejections in one week. I haven't received any news from them though, and after emailing them I was told "Our offices are still sorting through and discussing applications. You should receive a response by the end of next week.".

Is this BS? I'd bet my house I'm doomed, but I rather have you more knowledgeable people crash my hopes for good.

I looked into UK schools for about five seconds before I saw that most require that you secure funding before they will interview you.

What is the average time to completion for that program? When I see a four-year award I think an incomplete degree or scrambling to find funding for the last year or two.

I'm not trying to be rude or to ruin your excitement, I'm just curious.

4 years is quite a generous scholarship in the UK (where most secure funding for only 3 years). You don't have the first/two years of classes/rotations at the beginning of the PhD, so it's a whole different system from the US. Due to these differences, most students in Europe complete their PhDs in ~4 years

  9. Hi fellows. I'm an international applicant and I've applied to a few biomedical programs. Do you know if universities usually invite internationals to come on campus for in-person interviews like they do for domestic students? And, if so, are they usually able to subsidise the cost of the trip?

    Thanks!

  10. Is holding a Foreign Fulbright Scholarship a plus for your admission chances?

I would expect it would help since it's a 25K scholarship, but I've read that universities that accept Fulbright students have to waive their tuition, so it could actually hurt your chances of entering some of the richest and most sought colleges (the ones that already attract great cohorts of students and thus can pass well without you).

Does anybody have any experience/thoughts on this?
