  1. anybody staying at school res heard anything about paying the rent?

all ive done so far is just signing the contract that I'll stay in maplewood...

when do we have to pay?

  2. people who are fully funded by your home department do you know how to take care of the bursar bill?

I logged into my netpay account and found Im due like 5200 dollarish. Im fully funded so should I wait for my department to take care of it or do I need to take action? Im kinda worried with the Aug 7th due date for paying tuition cuz right now Im out of the US.

  3. Nice to meet EEB people! Indeed any graduate school forum I go there is alot of med sci or mol bio people so this thread kinda makes me feel like posting :)

Im a pop gen/ evo bio person and Ive applied this season and going to cornell this fall to their genetics and development program. Cornell has a EEB department but I chose the genetics and development department cuz they put more emphasis on pop gen and evo gen.

Anyways anybody planning to apply for evo gen or pop gen can ask me for stuff if ur wondering

Hey guys... I just joined this site and found this thread.

Right now, I'm a sophomore at a large public university. I plan on graduating in May 2012 with a BA in Biology and a minor in Anthropology. I'm interested in Animal behavior, specifically primates (hence the Anthro minor).

I'm anxious about applying to grad schools... I would ideally (as of now) like to apply for admission into PhD programs for Fall 2012. Is it common to apply to PhD programs beginning the fall after undergraduate graduation? I am kind of worried because almost all of the programs have application deadlines in December, so I won't even have my final GPA by then, etc.

Looking for any advice on this! Thanks.

hey tom5156 to answer ur question it is normal for people to apply the year they are graduating. Im graduating well this May and Ive made it into grad school. Even if you dont have your last year marks grad schools look at the marks you currently have. Anyways marks are only a minor role and so is GRE scores. If you have stellar research background it'll make up if you have an underpar grades.

  4. Yup, I got mine last week. But I also accepted my offer over a month ago, so if you accepted more recently I wouldn't worry about it too much yet. Did you get the email saying they would be mailing it to you shortly? The email said that it could take 2 weeks for domestic and 4 weeks for international students to receive it after you get that email.

I got my acceptance offer at Apr 14, maybe that could be a reason why I dont have one yet. Also Im international which could be an additional factor. However I havent recieved anything from cornell since except that my grad coordinater is preparing for the I-20 visa.

  5. meh I lived in dorm where my room was the size of those cages where KFC grows their chickens...

but you guys know when they announce if you have got a room or not? Ive appied for the shared three room in maplewood and I think Ive made my chances of getting housing more harder by making that choice...

  6. Hey guys Ive applied to the off campus housing just now for Maplewood. Is that place ok? I dunno how intenese to get housing but I hope I can get one.

    @snowy

hey I made it into field of gen & dev as well. Are you in for genetics or development?

  7. So when you need to decide by April 15 do you need an answer before Apr 15 so like Apr 14 or can you give an answer at Apr 15.

I have last minute decision and I think Im going to send my decision at like Apr 15 around noon.... is that okay??? I feel like i shud give an answer at Apr 15 before the school and office closes.

  8. Hey people

Im international and planning to attend UM starting september. I was planning to move in the northwood neighborhood. When i was at the interview weekend at feburary i stayed at a grad's house who lived at northwood and honestly it looked really nice for me but the grad was complaining how the transportation was crappy and u could get better place outside of northwood. My question is how bad is northwood. I mean the houses look okay and it was really quiet which I liked. Its hard for me to get off campus housing becuz as ive said im international and i cant visit ann arbor to look around. My plan is to live at northwood for a year and then move off campus or something like that.

another question for internationals hwo u guys getting housing?
