Just decided to join this form...so I'm new. Judging by these posts, I don't feel like I have a chance :/

Presented locally and am coauthor in the past in a presentation at a national organization. Grad student at one lab said I'll be on a publication whenever it gets finished writing and published...

Are interviews still possible at this point? I'm not sure even if the universities I've applied to even would do the interview. :/
One program I applied to was Columbia, and I contacted the general graduate admissions page two weeks ago and the person replied that he/she doesn't know where my status currently is, but it will generally take "4-6 weeks after the application has been submitted" for a reply...It definitely has been longer than that.
Would it look bad if I contacted the graduate director specific to BME about my application?
