I was accepted today! Hoping the best for you all here! I will likely be attending SMC! Is there a Facebook group yet?
First off, congrats! And I couldn't find one so I made one- here's the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/1732604790136574/

Hi there! My friend actually created the FB group for the incoming SLP class at the IL location. It's called Midwestern University (Downers Grove) SLP Class of 2020
-
My situation was actually different. I applied last year and got accepted to SMC but I rejected their offer and went with one of the other schools I got accepted to. The school I committed to was way too expensive and I realized I didn't want to drown in student debt once I was done so after talking to SMC, they actually rolled over the acceptance I received the prior year to this coming fall!
-
Good luck to all of you! I'm thinking of starting a Facebook group for SMC since I haven't seen one yet.

I am most likely attending, I haven'd decided for sure though quite yet. So fingers crossed the open house goes well lol.
Yeah, my letter said I was wait listed for funding. I have a friend in IU's program right now and she said that she got funding a couple weeks after acceptance when someone else declined, but they could do it differently now. She said that they offer a few ASL GAs so if you have experience in ASL you would have a good shot at one.
Hi there! My friend is debating on IU's SLP program and another SLP program but wants some insight from someone currently in IU's program. Do you think you could possibly ask your friend for a pros/cons list of the program?? Thank you so much in advance!

Hey! I was wondering if the hypothetical questions are more towards SLP profession itself or just general life situation questions? Thanks!

Hi guys! The hypothetical questions I got did revolve around Speech Pathology but it wasn't clinical stuff, just basic "what would you do" type questions. Don't stress, I remember being really nervous before the interview, but the professors do a great job on making you feel comfortable. Good luck!

The last school I'm waiting to hear back from is Indiana State University! Has anyone heard back from them yet?

Hi guys! This is the Facebook group for Midwestern in Downers Grove: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1553995694629303/

Hi -what's the Facebook group? Thanks -I'm pretty sure I will commit to Midwestern. I was waitlisted at Elmhurst.
Sorry for the late response! Here it is, https://www.facebook.com/groups/1553995694629303/

Hey guys! If any of you are committing to Midwestern University in Illinois, you should join the Facebook group. There's not many people in it so far, so I'm curious to find more people in our cohort.

Hi there! I had a writing sample as part of my interview at a school, and had 45 minutes to complete it. There were two scenarios I had to choose from to write about. It wasn't bad at all!!

Congratulations! I got invited to interview too where did you end up deciding to go?
Thank you! And congratulations to you as well Well for me it's basically down to Midwestern and Northwestern. I got into Midwestern and am just waiting to hear back from NU! If I don't get into NU, then I will choose Midwestern!
-
Hi everyone! I'm looking for any feedback on Northwestern's SLL program. I applied to it and it's currently my number one choice, although there's a very slim chance of me getting in haha. Any feedback will be helpful! Thanks
-
I also applied to Grand Valley State University! I got an email from them on Monday inviting me to an interview, but I declined the offer because it's not my first choice and I have been accepted somewhere else.
-
Hi there! We applied to a few similar schools in the Chicago area. I too applied to Midwestern (IL), Governors State, and Northwestern! I got accepted to Midwestern, and I was invited to an interview at Governors State but declined it. Northwestern is my number 1 choice, but I know how difficult it is to get into the program. Midwestern is definitely my go-to school if all else fails- love their program! Good luck!!

Out-of-field/career changing applicant (completed undergrad in 2009), applying for Fall 2017! Very impressed and maybe a little intimidated by everything I've been reading on this forum. I've spent this year taking pre-reqs online through Northwestern's Pre Speech Pathology program and I'm just excited to get going on applications!
Anyone here applying to schools in the NY area? I'm looking at Columbia, NYU, CUNY Hunter and NY Medical College.
Hi there! I have a question about taking the SLP pre-reqs online through NU's program. I applied there for this Fall 2017 and I saw that one of the mandatory pre-reqs they require is Aural Rehab and I didn't take that course during my undergraduate but saw that it's offered online and I could take it before starting the program. If you took this course, what did you think of it? How are their online courses set up?
