  1. My situation was actually different. I applied last year and got accepted to SMC but I rejected their offer and went with one of the other schools I got accepted to. The school I committed to was way too expensive and I realized I didn't want to drown in student debt once I was done so after talking to SMC, they actually rolled over the acceptance I received the prior year to this coming fall!

I am most likely attending, I haven'd decided for sure though quite yet. So fingers crossed the open house goes well lol.

Yeah, my letter said I was wait listed for funding. I have a friend in IU's program right now and she said that she got funding a couple weeks after acceptance when someone else declined, but they could do it differently now. She said that they offer a few ASL GAs so if you have experience in ASL you would have a good shot at one.

Hi there! My friend is debating on IU's SLP program and another SLP program but wants some insight from someone currently in IU's program. Do you think you could possibly ask your friend for a pros/cons list of the program?? Thank you so much in advance!

Hey! I was wondering if the hypothetical questions are more towards SLP profession itself or just general life situation questions? Thanks!

I am also interviewing with Midwestern in a couple days and any advice about the interview process would be so helpful! :)

Hi guys! The hypothetical questions I got did revolve around Speech Pathology but it wasn't clinical stuff, just basic "what would you do" type questions. Don't stress, I remember being really nervous before the interview, but the professors do a great job on making you feel comfortable. Good luck! :)

Congratulations! I got invited to interview too :) where did you end up deciding to go?

Thank you! And congratulations to you as well :) Well for me it's basically down to Midwestern and Northwestern. I got into Midwestern and am just waiting to hear back from NU! If I don't get into NU, then I will choose Midwestern!

  5. Hi there! We applied to a few similar schools in the Chicago area. I too applied to Midwestern (IL), Governors State, and Northwestern! I got accepted to Midwestern, and I was invited to an interview at Governors State but declined it. Northwestern is my number 1 choice, but I know how difficult it is to get into the program. Midwestern is definitely my go-to school if all else fails- love their program! :) Good luck!!

Out-of-field/career changing applicant (completed undergrad in 2009), applying for Fall 2017! Very impressed and maybe a little intimidated by everything I've been reading on this forum. I've spent this year taking pre-reqs online through Northwestern's Pre Speech Pathology program and I'm just excited to get going on applications!

Anyone here applying to schools in the NY area? I'm looking at Columbia, NYU, CUNY Hunter and NY Medical College.

Hi there! I have a question about taking the SLP pre-reqs online through NU's program. I applied there for this Fall 2017 and I saw that one of the mandatory pre-reqs they require is Aural Rehab and I didn't take that course during my undergraduate but saw that it's offered online and I could take it before starting the program. If you took this course, what did you think of it? How are their online courses set up?
