  1. hi, currently, your academic performance sounds not bad. More importantly for you to get into Harvard/Yale/Princeton is your match, whether you share similiar research interest with the faculty there. Besides, you need to convince it to your committee through a solid personal statement. High GRE would be a bonus for you. As you said that you are doing some research project , if you can turn them out into some publication, I mean academic paper at least, your chances will be much higher! Last but not least, delve deeper to more programmes which match your interest, I think it is good for you to look around to know the width first and then decide where to go.
  2. Hey, I strongly suggest you drop an email to the universities you have applied. You know what might happen? Unbelievable ! They may miss your application materials and the department committee may never receive or reviewe your case. Don't believe that? That happened exactly in my case this year when I applied XX university. At last minute, my application has been submitted to the department after umpteenth times of communication and requiries and at this time my peers have got answers from the univeristies. So don't freak out and be proactive when you heared nothing. Besides admission, rejection and waitlist, there is one more option-that is- ignored or missing! Don't be angry. Graduate officers are humans, who could make occasional mistakes. So don't waste your time to wait for it passively and desparately. Ask, ask and keep asking until knowing the exact answer from them! You are entitled the right to do so. Figure crossed for you. Best,
  3. Did anyone have received news from AU? I once wrote to the head of their graduate school and was told that I will be informed only by mail with next 7-10 days. Have anybody here had the same experience as me! Any acceptances or rejections???
  4. Neither do I. However, I held a pessimistic view about my GW result since someone in our forum have received the acceptance. has anyone received news released from American university?
  5. I think it is their usual way to let the masters students pay themselves to fund their PhD students. But at least, you got into Yale, so that you may find some chances to work and survive, I suppose.
  6. Thanks for your idea. Yes, the ultra competition is beyond my imagination. Perhaps, it is not in a rush to get into a PhD and later feel regretful about this hurry decision. GW usually received 200 applicants but this year I suppose they doubled this numbers. Maybe it is not you are not good enough to get in, but you, (I also) have not found some programs exactly match!~ I think if I have another chance, i will explore a big proportion of time to select suitable programs. Best luck of all.
  7. Thanks for your suggestions. I know there is a long way to go for me to become a scholar in english academia. i will keeping learning, practising while trying to get into a PhD. Any suggestions from you in regard with english proficiency and PhD applications will be much appreciated.
  8. I extremely hope so. Keep figure crossed for all of us waiting for the result. there is one thing I need to encounter , athough it is cruel, the rejection, which means I got nowhere to go. Have you anyone heard of any good programs who admit in the coming spring. I cannot wait for another year, staying with my parents and reapplying it. So would anybody like to figure out some spring program in this field. Hope what we get will deserve what we struggled, and fight for in the past. best,
  9. Congradulations! I have not receiced any news from it. is it PhD program????
  10. Me too. So sad!!! Has anyone received notice from GWU, AU ?
  11. I am also for the results from GWU, but I heard from people inside that there are only 15% OR 20% international students and not everyone will get funding. I really don't know the policy of them this year. Do hope our waiting turns out to be good. Congradulations again!
  12. I got offical notice of rejection from Columbia on 12 martch. Congraduation to you for finding a place to get in. Keep my fingers crossed for the rest of us who are still waiting for the possible good news desparately.
  13. So do I. To be honest, GWU and AU are my last straw. Keep my fingure crossed for all of you.
  14. Hi, yes, could you like to share with me too about your background, and I want to learn from you for my future endeavor. You can send me a message if you like.
  15. Really??? So many people havenot heard the result from Columbia. I shocked about it. Extremely sad to be rejected silienctly. At least, they should inform us in stead of ignoring us. A bit furious about that! They treat as like what, bubble???
  16. HI, everyone, I have applied C/P PhD in NYU yet no response till now. Do you guys think I have ready been rejected or what shall I do except aimlessly waiting for them???
  17. Oh, thanks for your reply. Do you think it is the proper time for me to drop them an email for a final check? It was extremely sad to be rejected silently. But really appreciate your prompt reply.
  18. Has anyone in this forum ever received the acceptance notification from Columbia or NYU? Is there a rule for the de facto rejection tradition in those two universities? Figure cross for my application!
  19. So far, no news from GWU, and hope that is a good indicator with an offer coming soon.
  20. I am quite curious about the so called de facto rejections. How do you know that, dear. i just have not heared from them. For NYU, in their websites, they said the mail of admission will be sent to you by mid or late March. Does that implies that we cannot hear from NYU until then? Or people may receice email notice before the formal mail? Totally messed up.
  21. I can't agree with you any more. You know, it is very late for them to release the result, as a memeber of Ivies.
  22. I didn't get you. Any news from Columbia? figure cross for everyone.
  23. Definitely, neither did I hear any news from Columbia,NYU and universities in D.C. For me, all the news I learnt are rejection last month! I'd better believe no news is good news and March is a good start of spring for me. Good luck for everyone waiting for the results.
