  1. I’m not sure where you got this idea. I don’t know about every department, but as a whole, Brown is very well known and respected. People definitely know it’s Ivy League. And, at least in some departments, there is significant collaboration with Harvard and Yale, as wells as the other Ivies.

I feel the same way, though at least I know 3 of 4 schools I'm waiting on are only just starting to release acceptances, or haven't yet. It's UVA that is really killing me since they presumably notified admits 3ish weeks ago and I've still heard nothing.

Every time I tell my partner about a rejection she feels bad for me and I have to insist its OK because at this point, I just want to know where I'm going to end up and every rejection just narrows down the possibilities further.

It looks like you have some acceptances, at least.  So, that's good!

  3. In my experience, something to think about is that programs care as much about where you are going (in terms of your interests and research), as they care about where you've been academically.  That is, they want you to have the background, languages etc for your stated goal to seem logical and achievable.  But, they seem to also especially care about whether your academic goals fit with their program, professors, field, etc.

Do you mean Princeton Theological Seminary or Princeton Department of Religion?

I don't know about Princeton Theological Seminary, but for Princeton Department of Religion I was told that the professors submitted their finalists to the graduate school early last week and am expecting we should hear back from them sometime this week or next week. Here's to all of us keeping our fingers crossed...

I was asking about the Dept of Religion. Thanks for the info!  I hope we hear soon.
