Oh ok, I was wondering if they ever did a first wave of rejections. How did you find out? Those that have posted on the results page have only been acceptances.

So USC is the last decision I'm waiting for, and while I feel rejection looming ahead, I also want to know why the decision is taking so long. The informal waitlist is a good guess, but at the same time have there been ANY rejections? All applicants can't be on the waitlist. P.S. Sorry I keep posting about USC, but I'm just so annoyed... 4 months...geesh!

In hopes of me actually being on an informal waitlist, I'd like to extend a "thank you" for turning down the offer. =) And if you don't mind my asking, what attracted you to your other offers as opposed to USC? This is my first time applying to grad school and I would like to know about other options if I strike out this round. I really liked the POIR program and the funding package.

I really hope the both of you are right about the informal waitlist because if an applicant was flatly rejected, it definitely would be upsetting to wait this long.

So I am expecting to hear back from USC this week. From reading other posts and noticing the acceptance timelines of others, should I assume rejection? I noticed all POIR acceptances so far were via email at the end of Feb, however, there were only a small number.I'm DESPERATELY hoping that this was a first wave of admissions. There were people also rejected via email and I have not received an email. Do grad schools ever accept through mail?
