  1. It's been a few years since I've lived closer to OU, but I expect that a mid-quality 1 bed/1 bath unit could be had in the 450-550 range. If you want an in-unit washer/dryer hookup, you're probably looking at the top of that range or a bit higher. Traditions Square, the university-owned apartments, provide a fair benchmark (http://traditions.ou...category/10/11/); note that Tradition's rates include utilties, cable, and internet access. Also,a number of new apartment units have been constructed in the years since I've graduated. Undergrad enrollment has also increased too, but at a slower rate; the overall impression I get is that rents have stayed fairly stable, particularly for some of the older units in town (Springfield, Summerpointe) In other regards, you should be able to stretch a dollar in Norman. Gasoline is routinely 30-50 cents cheaper than in other parts of the country, and food isn't terribly expensive either.
  2. I submitted a one page, single spaced letter (with a bit of space at the top and bottom for header, signature, etc). I struggled with the tone and content much more than length; the email asking for the statement indicated that they consider interest in their program to be an important factor in their scholarship deliberations. The statement i submitted was as GPPI-specific as I could make it in order to show that I had done my homework about their institution. It still felt a little too generic in the end. I was notified the following week that they wouldn't be extending a scholarship to me at this time, so make of my experience what you will. I was not exactly in a condition to write such a statement either. I received the email on a Wednesday evening, notified that I had to submit the statement by noon EST that Friday, all while I was in the middle of a business trip and not scheduled to make it back home until Thursday. Still, if it nets you even a tiny morsel of scholarship funds, I think anyone would consider it time well spent..
  3. Received an email today requesting that I submit a statement for scholarship consideration. By noon on March 12th, so it looks like I had better get cracking. FYI, in the email I was told that the scholarship committee meets on Monday, March 15, and that I would receive their decision by Wed, the 17th. Based on Minerva's comments, this would appear to be a third round of scholarship considerations.
