Just popping back into the thread this year (I was on this forum over the two previous years, and I understand how difficult the waiting can be!)
I'm checking for a friend who was wait-listed this year, receiving a score of 11.9 from committee 4 (Education, linguistics, psychology, social work). We are trying to find out if she still has a chance of getting the fellowship. Can others from committee 4 let us know their scores and grant status? (So far I've just seen one post from a committee-4 fellowship recipient with a 13.4).
Also, a quick note of encouragement for those who were wait-listed or rejected. I was rejected with an 8 my first year applying as a direct applicant. Last year (1st year of PhD) I was offered a fellowship, which was upgraded to a CGS a few months later. So a lot can change even within a few months. I think what made the difference for me last year was having a strong reference letter from my current supervisor, going through 8 detailed drafts of the proposal with several profs, and also emphasizing my non-academic work experience. Hang in there and keep trying everyone!
Hey, I posted above, but I got a 13 on committee 4. Ended up with a fellowship.
how did you find out that you were upgraded?

Update: uAlberta student. Got my letter to my on campus office today. I got 13/20 in committee 4 I think and was awarded the fellowship. Good luck to those who haven't heard!
also, yeah the envelope was large than standard and brown.

Thanks for sharing! Did you email FGSR or call? If email what address did you use? Thanks!
I emailed grad.awards@ualberta.ca. I could not wait any longer!

Hey all, for those at uAlberta,
FGSR Awards office knows! I managed to get a fellowship, which is exciting news!
Best, -
I'm in Alberta. I'm think the west will hear back the end of next week. I'd love to be wrong though!

If you look back through previous years' threads, you'll see that this happens every single year. And every year, it's the same conclusion: there is no correlation between seeing the Supplement on your portal and getting a SSHRC. There are two SSHRC portals: one general one and one for the doctoral fellowship. They don't show the same thing when you log in (go figure!) and only the doctoral portal displays the Michael Smith Foreign Supplement. It appears for everyone, even those who don't get the scholarship or who are not eligible for the supplement.
I hope this will reassure some people!
(Edited in case you want to check for yourself: link for the general portal -- https://webapps.nserc.ca/SSHRC/faces/logon.jsp and link for the doctoral portal -- https://webapps.nserc.ca/SSHRC/faces/logonFellowships.jsp?lang=en_CA )I have it in neither portal :-/

Any other applicants’ extranet not letting them log in? I applied last year so I have an account. I reset my password and when I log in, I get a weird “access denied” page…
