  1. Got one :X
  2. Thanks for the info! In that case, I'm going to bed, since I can expect an email around...5AM? /sigh
  3. Q: Will the NSF announcement come before midnight? A: My sources say no. Q: Will the NSF announcement come before 1AM? A: Ask again later. Q: Will the NSF annoucement come before 2AM? A: My sources say no. This is starting to sound eerily like the call center...
  4. So I asked if I'd get the NSF...and it said yes. Further empirical testing to begin shortly. It's a nice diversion from clicking refesh.
  5. So let's say that the emails were sent/received at ~1:20 AM (Eastern) last year, and the results were posted at ~1:00* AM...does anyone remember if the website went down at 11:00pm or midnight last year?
  6. I don't remember the exact time that the website went live last year, but my email from last year was dated 1:19AM (Eastern). I think I got the email after checking the website, though.
  7. With a reputation of -15 and likely to decrease, I'd say people are holding it against you
  8. Post it online? Google doc?
  9. Not to freak anyone out, but I think the general advice is to submit your GRE scores no matter what. Last year my advisor forced me to submit mine (which were a dismal combined 1210) and not a single reviewer even mentioned them (or how terribly low they were). He told me that not submitting them would make the reviewers think that I had abnormally low scores (which, in my opinion, I did) but I suppose it is possible to do worse than a 1210. On the upside, despite those scores, I still got an HM last year and that was applying as a senior to a field completely different from my undergrad major.
  10. The other night, I had a nightmare that I received the award. At this point, I'm not even certain I'll stay in grad school (for the Ph.D), so I'm hoping *not* to get it. If I do get it, I'm afraid it will be much harder to walk away from that beautiful stipend and do what I really want to do. Good luck, everyone. Here's hoping for another HM or an outright rejection.
  11. I emailed yesterday to ask if all those who had been awarded fellowships had been notified. Carmen replied that they have been and that I have not been recommended for funding. She attached a letter of rejection to the email. Perhaps if you email you can find out if you are an alternate, but at this point I would assume that if you have not been notified you're either an alternate or rejected. Good luck to those alternates and congratulations to the winners! PS: I'm not sure if it applied specifically to my case or not, but Carmen also mentioned that financial need only comes into the very final judgment and that often students with exceptional need are not given preference over those in more favored (i.e., humanities) fields. I'm guessing this applies to my situation since I am a very financially needy student (my EFC is 0) who applied to Psychology which is apparently too science-y for the Javits? Fingers crossed for the NSF GRFP.
  12. Congratulations! Does anyone know if they've (presumably) already notified all applicants? I'm sure it's too much to hope that they haven't gotten through the list given the small number of fellows selected each year...
