Thanks for the kind words. I'm really feeling crapshoot, because several of the professors of the school to which I applied said I had a very strong and competitive application, and that things just didn't fall in my favor. Which is both reassuring, and also extra crushing.
I guess I need to start preparing for next years cycle?
I did not, but I'm also not applying for Musicology, so maybe it's different. Normally they let the people whom they want to interview know by now, so I have a bad feeling.
Does anyone know anything about where Northwestern is in their admissions process? Every attempt to not worry about my applications is proving futile...
Hearing that Chicago sent out acceptances is pretty heartbreaking. I meet with their faculty and they were all so nice. This wait is starting to get pretty brutal.
Thanks for the tips. I can, semi-obviously see what has been said on the results page, but I was curious if anyone had asked the schools directly when they were releasing their info this year. Columbia is my top choice, so I'm on pins and needles waiting.
@ks391262 I tend to think it's a crapshoot too. I've seen really talented friends get rejected flat out for years in a row, and others who have a weak CV and no teaching experience get into amazing programs. Who knows.
I woke up to an email that a paper I wrote had been accepted to another conference. Which is fantastic news, but like, I wish I could update my CV to all these schools that I applied to. I guess this is not the worst news.
I'm sorry to hear that ks391262! My luck isn't going so great either, two rejections without interviews. I feel like I am in a similar spot as you because I interviewed at one of the schools I was rejected from two years ago for my masters. I think my application is much stronger now, so I don't really know what went wrong. Needless to say, its really put a damper on my holiday.
I'm dreading taking the GRE again. I didn't do great when I took it for my masters.
What are you reach schools? I'm going to apply to Yale, which I think is as big of a reach as they come.
I hope it's not to early for one of these. Seeing as applications will be due within the next 2-3 months, I was wondering how people were doing with the application process. Personally, I'm struggling to get a personal statement I feel comfortable with.
