  1. The open house was pretty cool. I along with several other students sat in on some classes and that is what stuck out for me the most. It is encouraging to know that there is room in the core courses to pursue your policy interests. I also enjoyed the student panel. Someone asked a hard question and the students answered honestly. Some felt their professors were a little to focused on research rather than mentoring them. This is good to know. This is okay with me as I am interested in learning to conduct research as a job rather than working for a legislator or with a government entity.

All in all I was impressed. I am leaning towards the Evans School for sure.

With that said I'm sending this message from Minneapolis (I live in Seattle). I am here for the Humphrey Institute's open house for admitted MURP students on Monday. I'm sort of feeling the Twin Cities at the moment.

    Good luck

  2. Thank you for responding! What factors made you choose Heinz? I was admitted to the 3 semester track based on work experience. I am very impressed with the quatitative/policy analysis aspects of the Heinz program but I am concerned that it might not be as strong in the more creative, philosophical, ethical, softer science aspects policy. I am interested in domestic policy, particularly the areas of education and health . Do you have any information about Heinz and education policy. I have noticed a lack of courses in this area at Heinz. Also, what do you know about Pittsburg? I am definately still considering Heinz and would appreciate any further information you might have.
