ok, this may sound ridiculous, but what about clothing? as a TA, will i be expected to look semi-sharp? i went to a small undergrad-only school so i'm clueless here...

I was a TA at Syracuse University. You don't have to go overdressed like in a suit and tie or dress and heels.

    - Jeans and diff color pants are fine.

    - Nice shirts ( No t-shirts, see-thru, low cut, or with excessive/oversized writing)

    - Closed-toe shoes, boots, flats or strappy sandals.

Just got an email from the department that I got accepted into the University of Manitoba for their MA English program! Although not a prestigious or popular school like you guys are applying to (holy crap ya'll must be geniuses), it's still good to hear an acceptance! Congrats to everyone on your acceptances so far!

That is awesome!!!! Congrats! Just having one acceptance must ease the stress a bit. (I am checking my email like a 100 times a day until I hear yes from someone lol) So happy for you!!!! =)

  3. Thanks so much! I figure the weather would be like that. I went to school in Syracuse (it snows there from November to April) but wanted to double check.  How much is an average one bed/studio apartment? None of the websites have prices which is a little annoying.

  4. I'm considering attending Alfred University (for MA in School Counseling) and would like to know a little bit about Alfred, NY if anyone has any info. Where are the good areas to find an apartment? How is the public transit? Weather? How affordable is it to live there? Are people friendly? What are some fun things to do there? I appreciate any info you can give me!! Thanks!!! =)

  5. I went to SU for grad school. It was great! You do not really need a car. They have a great bus system and you can ride both the school and city bus as long as you have your SU ID with you. Also, if you absolutely need to drive somewhere, you can join Zipcar. It is a car program that has cars parked all over campus and you rent by the hour. Also, if you are going to rent off campus, I recommend living near Westcott (it is on the bus line) but don't go past Genesse St. IF possible don't rent from Syracuse Quality living. They are really bad about fixing things and their internet sucks.
