Has anyone heard from Vanderbilt Biostat PhD in terms of formal waitlist and/or rejections. My understanding that even rejections have NOT been sent out for anyone after the first wave(s) of offers following the visit day.

I received nothing either. I asked them in March and was told that all applications were still under review and they planned to make final decisions at the end of March. I guess someone has received an offer.

I don't know the answer to this, but I can tell you that my application status on the portal says the same thing, and I got an offer from them a bit more than a week ago. Have you tried calling? Do people do that anymore?

No I cannot call because I am an international applicant. Did your offer come after the status changing? I am really nervous now and I may lose sleep tonight :-(

So I just called ISU, they sent out their first round admissions, and they said also expect to accept fewer student due to budget cuts. Things are looking worse and worse.

I feel terrible. My background is not very good. I just emailed them for the application status and now I am afraid of their reply.

I got a email from a professor of UC Davis. She said she thinks I'm promising and wants to arrange a Skype 'chat' with me. She uses the exact word-- chat. Is this actually an interview? What should I prepare for it. Really need some thoughts. Thx a lot.

I think you should prepare for an interview before the 'chat'. However, 'chat' can also means you are already accepted and the professor just want to talk with you about his or her researches to help you make decisions.

I applied to both GSBS and SPH. Get accepted by SPH and haven't heard back from GSBS. As far as I know, the GSBS Biostatistics program is pretty small. There are several posts in 1point3acres talk about GSBS programs. The link is http://www.1point3acres.com/bbs/thread-41710-1-1.html.

Yes. There is little admission information about this program on 1point3cares. I submitted my application very early but it seems to be under review forever.

Waterloo told me they understand US schools have later timeframes for sending out acceptances, so they're fine with students accepting their offer now and then changing their minds in a month since they only give 3 weeks to accept or decline. I'd expect SFU is similar, but maybe just email the grad coordinator there to double check. I'm not sure what deposit you'd be asked to pay within the next month or two, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you for your reply! :DI will email the department dean.

  7. Hey guys, I have another question of admission and please help me!

I just received an offer from SFU but I heard that there is only a few weeks for making a decision. All of my application for universities in US haven't got any news yet :-(

    Here are my questions:

    1. Can I email to other universities, telling them my situation now, to ask them to tell me the status of my application?

    2. Is it really really terrible to pay a deposit fee but go to another school in the end?

I really need help for these. Thank you very much!

Next week has been a historically exciting week! NC state stats will send our their waitlisted, rejects. Michigan and UNC acceptances should trickle in. Interview invites to Vanderbilt as well

Thx for your information! May I ask, what about interviews(online?) for international applicants in Vanderbilt?

  9. I am an international applicant for PhD program of stat/biostat. This is just another ordinary day of losing sleep - 4:30 am now :-(

biostat: Rochester, SMU, UT Health GSBS, Vanderbilt, CRWU, PSU

    stat: TAMU, ISU, WUSTL, SFU

I am really tired and anxious now. I cannot tell my parents about my terrible feelings 'cause they would only make me feel worse by nagging. I have not received any interview - this makes me depressed. I regret getting such low GPA and wasting a lot of time.

I am still struggling. Finger crossed.
