I asked my potential advisor about the funding and he confirmed what you say.
While there is no certainty, it is unlikely you'd have to work without funding and it seems you can almost always get TA positions in the worst case.

Hey, I got an acceptance for Utah CS PhD too!
What are your questions? -
I got acceptances from both last week.
I am leaning towards Utah for the large campus and scenic surroundings.
Other than being able to live in Boston, are there good reasons to choose Northeastern?

I don't think CMU is done. From what it looked like, they only sent out ML and CS responses. So if you applied to any other programs in their SCS, I'd say you still have a shot.
I applied for the Software Engineering PhD program at CMU.
Any hint about the timeline of the decision?
The survey doesn't seem to have too many posts about this.

I am an international student and I got my first acceptance a few days ago. There is some chance that I might get into some other schools.
There is a huge incentive to accept early because it would make a lot of things easier for me down the road if I manage to get the visa stamped before May.The situation is : I am visiting the US for an internship in the summer and I might be short on time to apply after I get back from that. Also, transferring to a different visa while inside the US is a painful experience.
Any thoughts?
Anyone in a similar situation?
How much (total) did you pay for applications?

About 1300 USD, 8 schools (CS PhD) + GRE + TOEFL.
