Just trying the enhance the human factor so as to increase the chances of getting an answer to my question

heh.
lyoness, I have to say: I wish I could, but it may turn out to be the only choice I have if I want to stay with my SO. That, and reapplying next round.

Um, this is a somewhat related question to the original poster's.
Can someone describe the general reputation of the phd program in english at the cuny graduate center for me? Just, maybe, if you could sum up your general impression in one sentence, what would you say? And maybe list some other schools which you feel to be on par with cuny?
I know this is a silly question, and my only excuse is that I don't really know much about the American educational system. There are some professors there who are doing very interesting research, and cuny generally gets around a 20ish place on most ranking systems. However, it is relatively unknown in my country, so I would really like to hear your opinion. Thanks!

Thanks, rinneron!
I find what you say to be very surprising because the Enlightenment/18th cen people that are at NYU are some of the really big names in the field, from what I know. That being said, I was a little disappointed by their course offerings when I last checked (only one -- maybe two courses in my field, and the rest are in fields totally irrelevant to my research). And the school where I'm most likely to attend this year is actually in the consortium, so that's a bit of a consolation. Looking forward to updates from you

Any further updates from Rutgers... Would you mind sharing info on admits and funding please?
My boyfriend was notified by Prof. Zerubavel of his acceptance on Friday. He received a tuition waiver for the first two years and I think a TAship for the other three years.

Has anyone heard anything recently from the comp lit dpmt? I still haven't heard anything.

rinneron said:And my two cents on a program: WashUÂ has greats strengths in 19th/20th/21st century, women/gender studies, and African-American Literature.
I'm really interested in learning more about WashU.

I've been quiet here lately because I worked myself into an insanity last week that I don't want to go back to. I still have 5 more schools to hear back from. It's not looking so good.
My one bit of good news is that I heard back yesterday from the prof with whom I want to work at my top choice school (from whom I still have not heard), and he is allowing me to take one of his classes next quarter through concurrent enrollment. I figure this is an opportunity that could help quite a bit come 2010.
Good luck, commoner! I read your posts last year and am crossing my fingers for you!

I have not received any notification from Yale and my app status on the website indicates nothing. So I have yet to be rejected. Judging from today's posts, it seems like admits have been called and most people got their rejection letter...anyone else in my boat?
