  1. Hey everyone, as someone who went through this last year I just wanted to chime in.

It seems that results were sent out mid-March for years 2017 and prior. Last year the results were sent out later on March 28. Considering that the results for the 2018 competition haven't even been made public yet (the 2017 results were made public in September of 2017), NSERC may be falling behind with this whole process. This is corroborated by the fact that some graduate departments have said that results might not be in until mid April. Just be patient. Even though I know how difficult that is when you are awaiting such an important result.

For those wondering, they email the results to let you know yes/no, then they send more detailed ranking results by snail mail. My email was received around noon last year.

    Good luck.

  2. Hey everyone just a quick question. First of all congrats to all the winners! Second, because this is a large scholarship competition, do we acknowledge it on our CVs in a certain way? For example, I know the Americans who win the NSF GRFP (the US equivalent) call themselves NSF Fellows and will actually write on their CVs: "NSF Fellow: 2010-2013" etc, etc. Are we NSERC Canada Graduate Scholars? Or NSERC Postgraduate Scholars? Or do we just add a line to an awards/scholarships section? I want to maximize my CV. Thanks!

The email I received to notify that my application was forwarded was along the same lines (apparently they will mail us in March by the email on the application lol). I think all the schools just copy whatever information NSERC says officially, which is the "end of March" or 23 weeks after October 15th as StackUnderFlow pointed out. The official NSERC website for the Alexander Graham Bell scholarship says that we can also find out results from our Department of Graduate Studies (or equivalent). Has anyone else tried to contact someone from their university to find out when we will get notified of the results?

I don't know what it was like in previous years but this seems to be later than last years results based on forums lol. My hope is that the federal budget announced changes that let them accept more applicants so more of us will get a positive response when they do decide to let us know? :P

I contacted my graduate department (UAlberta) and they told me that applicants are notified by NSERC via email before the universities are.

  4. I'm surprised to see that there aren't many people talking about this. I'm new to this forum, but searching old NSERC results brings up threads with thousands of posts. Where is everyone at?

  5. I've been forwarded by uAlberta and am eagerly waiting for the results. Based off of the NSERC statistics, it seems like once forwarded you have a ~40% chance of success, so I'm optimistic. I wish I had a few examples of successful applicants so I could see how I stack up!
