Anyone know how many applicants there were this cycle?
It also looks like they offered 2,050 awards. I'm not sure where some people were getting 1,500 available spots from
I also would like to know. Normally they issue a press release with the award announcement that has a small breakdown (see last years here: https://www.nsf.gov/news/news_summ.jsp?cntn_id=245024&org=NSF) but they have put one out for this year.

If this goes anything like previous years, the site won't just go down without warning. There should be a little message somewhere saying in a few hours the site will go down.
Yes, exactly! Looks like this (as someone kindly posted earlier)

This page is down for me. Is this a sign?
I thought that too, but it seems that one of the links from the GRFP homepage is just down.
Here is the link to the award list that I am able to see.

No I do not, sorry!

No I do not think so. They extended the deadline for the reviewers to turn in their comments today actually, so I don’t think we need to start stressing until mid April at the earliest.
-
I heard information from my PI who is reviewing applications that the NSF had canceled the review panels because of the shutdown.
Additionally, in order to keep maintain the timeline (~mid April) they were not planning to reschedule but rather make decisions based on the initial reviews.

I haven't gotten anything in inbox or spam...

Another unhelpful Facebook post ?

Where would they even post it? I don't think they would.
They post sometimes on Facebook but nothing since April 4th and zero fellowship updates

Nah I applied this year as undergrad for the first time. However, from what I know, the reviewers havent provided feedback in the past. But the application was also different before (Up to third year PhD?). It seems like you as long as you meet their eligibility criteria (1st or second year grad student? I dont remember), there isnt a stipulation about number of apps...

Okay thanks for the info! I don’t have high hopes for this year so just want to start thinking ahead.

I mean they said the same thing last year, by the 14th (Friday then). But they actually released on Tuesday the 11th. Also, the 15th is the deadline for many offers, so it'd be cruel sort of cruel to just release Friday afternoon and not really allow students time to work out some items. I think they'll release sooner, but maybe not!
Those are some good points! So by the sounds of your last comment, it seems you were able to apply for a second time. Do you know the eligibility rules for reapplying? Is it once as undergrad/once as graduate student like NSF? Also did you receive feedback from reviewers on your application? I wasn’t able to find this information on the website.

I working under the notion that they won’t release until Friday. But will that stop me from constantly refreshing my email...nope!

People who have called them, did it sound like they were going to tell us this week or next? I think I am starting to go a little crazy waiting here.

Bad news: I'm so sorry, I know how frustrating that is because it happened to me as a 1st year grad student. You put so much time, energy, and hope into your application that it super stinks when something as small as formatting causes your application to get kicked back. I was not allowed to resubmit that year.
Good news: When mine was returned without review it did not count as a submission so I was allowed to submit again as a 2nd year grad student. In my case, I think my application was even better and my overall packet much stronger- and I happened to be awarded the fellowship last year!
My advice is to be mad/sad/whatever ya gotta do and then keep on keeping on! You made a mistake and that stinks but I took it as a (painful) learning experience moving forward (and you better believe I triple check every single document margin lol). I hope you have another opportunity to submit in the future, good luck!!
