Hi there! I’ve recently read through this thread and noticed a lot of you were accepted to Canadian audiology programs, congratulations! I am looking to apply this fall and am wondering what you would all suggest to do for my application to increase the chance of acceptance.

For the past 60 credits I have a 3.99 GPA and am looking to do some volunteer work under an audiologist in town. I am writing the GRE this summer and will have strong reference letters from my professors. Do you think it would be necessary to have do an honors thesis? I’m considering whether or not to do one as I can graduate a semester early if I chose not too and will then have some time to save up!

Any and all comments are appreciated, thank you :)

    Hi there,

I am currently finishing up my first year in Audiology at Western. I didn't do an honors thesis and some of my classmates didn't either. I think you should focus on volunteering in an audiology clinic and try to incorporate your volunteering experience in your personal statement.

    Best of luck!

Hey! I got waitlisted at Western this year. If I don't get in I plan on reapplying next year, so I was wondering if you had any tips on how to improve my application?

Hey! This year I tried to shadow two audiologists that work with two different age groups so I got more shadowing hours and I also did some volunteering with seniors. For academics I repeated one of the pre-requisite courses to improve my mark because it seemed like they weigh those courses heavily. I think extracurriculars and the statement of intent are heavily weighted as well,  so try to really work on those and emphasize why you are passionate about audiology.

Good luck and hopefully it will work out for you!
