  1. Thank you, Jack, for being so thoughtful!

1- Do I have to be good at SPSS or any other statistical analysis tool before I enroll in Ph.D. in Health Promotion?

2- What book do you recommend to read before enrolling in a Ph.D. in Public health to someone from outside the field? I would like to have a comprehensive understanding of most public health topics. ( I had in mind this book: https://www.amazon.com/Introduction-Public-Health-Mary-Jane-Schneider/dp/1284089231/ref=dp_ob_title_bk )

You are doing a noble job, my friend! God bless you.

  2. Hello all,

I have submitted three professors as my references in SOPHAS, two of them were showing (requested) and one were showing (Accepted)

Does accepted mean that professor has written the LOR and submitted it successfully? I know it's weird, but my professors tend to be forgetful sometimes, so I have to keep track of it myself.

    Thank you.

1 - It's been a while since I took the GRE, but I'm pretty sure they provide you with a list to choose from for schools.

2 - Most schools on SOPHAS have a specific GRE code that means the score will go to SOPHAS and the school. The application site for all of your schools should have specific instructions on which code to use.

Thank you very much, and good luck.

  4. Hello all,

I'm taking my GRE test in two weeks, and I had a couple of questions on how to send the results to my programs:

1- Can I bring a little paper and write my institutions ETS codes in it (of course, I will show it to the test invigilators)? Or should I memorize them?

2- What is the process of sending reports to programs? Do I have to send two reports for each program (one for SOPHAS and one for the school)? And if that is the case, does that mean I can only send two reports on test day (given that I only have four free reports)?

Thank you and best of luck.

If anyone has questions regarding the upcoming application cycle, feel free to ask me!

    Hello Ian,

I had a question, in applying to a Ph.D. in Public health should I contact the faculty that I want to work with first before applying to the program in SOPHAS? or the SOPHAS application has to be sent before I get in touch with the desired faculty member?

    Thank you for your time.
