I'm totally guilty of the same thing. I keep staying up til after when I got my email last year, leaving my computer on to watch netflix, falling asleep, and waking up in the middle of the night going "oh well if my computer is still on anyway I might as well check email and the forums"... really, really bad idea
haha probably because they've had many people calling to ask the same thing I wish they'd just give a solid date so we could stop being glued to our computers temporarily
definitely more than this time last week haha. i legit spend waaaaay too much time checking here to see if anybody's found the site down, gotten an email, etc
A couple of people on here have tried contacting NSF and basically gotten the same answer of "we have no information on that" from the people who answer the phones/emails.
BME grad student, applied for interdisciplinary. This is my second attempt at this (and the wonderfully fun waiting game that goes with it). Last year I got HM with the only negative comment coming from my third reviewer who basically said "you worked in a lab but you don't have publications or presentations at conferences." ...but I was only in that lab for 3 months. After a year of grad school, I've managed to get my name out there on some things, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it works out this year.
I totally realize I have no control over it at this point and that "it is what it is"... but I still wanna know so I can be put out of my misery
wow I don't remember being this antsy about it last year.i've been spending waaaaay too much time with my eyes glued to my email. it probably doesn't help that i'm waiting for notification about an abstract submission to a conference too. too many decisions will be handed down in the next few weeks, oy!!
So I had emailed several days ago to inquire about how all the budget nonsense might affect the notifications... got a reply today:
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP).
Unfortunately, at this time we do not have a specific notification date. Applicants will be notified as soon as possible after decisions have been made, but we do not know when this will be.
Sincerely,
GRF Operations Center
...I wonder if they still haven't figured out how many they're going to award? I'm at least already *at* a grad school so it's not like it will affect my choice of where I end up. I just hope for the sake of anyone who needs to make a decision by April 15 that we know about the award status by then. at least where I'm from, sometimes having your own funding can REALLY go a long way in the eyes of a PI making an offer
