  1. I am planning to apply for some statistics PhD programs this fall. Some of the profiles I saw here really terrifies me : ( I am wondering if someone can offer some advice on my program selection. Undergrad: large state university Majors: Econ and Math GPA: 3.3/4.0 overall, 3.5/4.0 major Master: a top 20 private school but not famous for stat Major: Statistics GPA: 4.0/4.0 GRE General Test: 170 Q, 150 V 4.0W GRE Subject Test in Mathematics: None Research Experience: probably none. (1-year irrelevant research in marketing during undergrad, some class projects and individual projects in machine learning and forecasting). Research interest: Time series, stochastic, financial mathematics Internship: 2 internships in financial institutions Letters of Recommendation: I got four from professors in my current master's program (3 tenure, 1 adjunct). I am thinking about Rice, George Washington, Northwestern, JHU(see if I'm lucky) and some more programs which I haven't decided yet. If you have any suggestions or need specific info, please leave a comment. I really appreciate it.
